Summary
The residence of the Hydriote notable Lazaros Koundouriotis, built in the period of the island's maritime acme, stands in a prominent position on the west side of the harbour. Visitors today are impressed by the imposing exterior and the singular interior of a Hydriote mansion with family heirlooms and representative works of traditional modern Greek art. The paintings of Periklis Byzantios, who is closely associated with the island, and of Constantinos Byzantios, provide additional aesthetic enjoyment.
